    The Power of Words
    by Paul Shier
Completed 2007 Carved Canadian Marble Dimensions 15”x12.5”x6.5” $10,000.00

This sculpture was created as a protest to try and help stop terrorists and murderers from being immortalized and made famous. Many criminals have admitted that they would not have committed their crimes if not for all the publicity received afterwards.
What if in the newspapers, televisions and other types of media, publicized all the details of the tragedy except the name of the criminals or terrorists committing the act. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of lives might be saved with this one small universal act.
In Canada they can keep the names of the young offenders out of the news, why not mass murderers and terrorists? Why not the whole world, it might make the world a little nicer place to live!

    Broken Dreams
    by Paul Shier
Completed 2007 Carved Canadian Marble Dimensions 32”x 14.5”x10.5” This sculpture is currently not for sale>

While watching someone play Stairway to Heaven, I was mesmerized by the beauty, grace and ease that his fingers danced over the strings. Jimmy Page, lead guitarist of Led Zepplin, would tease the audience with a few bars on his favourite guitar, a Les Paul Gibson.
Fashioning the hand to fit a specific note in the song was aided by other guitar players and pictures of Jimmy Page actually playing on stage.
This sculpture, my favourite of three that were shown in the 2008 Florence Biennale was crated improperly by the shippers on its return trip to Canada and the top 8 inches of the guitar was broken off . The original name for this sculpture was North Bay and is now titled Broken Dreams.

    A Canadian's Vision
    by Paul Shier
Completed 2007 Carved Soapstone (Rockmanite) Dimensions 21”x21”x19” $20,000.00

This sculpture represents the dream of world peace and was created in memory of my mother, Marge Shier.
While lying in a hospital bed listening to the news surrounding the fighting overseas, Mom looked up to me and said, "Can’t you do something about that Paul, all those young people dying?" One of the last things said to me before leaving this world. At that time I was dumbfounded, thinking what could I possibly do?
Well, this sculpture and others done to try and promote peace is a start and hopefully from small ripples…
The only way there can be world peace is through the people, and the peace dove while being held at bay looks towards future generations for hope.
The sculpture "A Canadian’s Vision" is carved from one solid piece of rockmanite, similar to soapstone only harder with the exception of the marble dove in the center.

Damaged art returned from the Florence Biennale 2007.

Has anyone that attended a Florence Biennale used the Punto System and had art returned damaged in shipping? If so did you have any problems being reimbursed for the damages?

I paid the Punto System to have three sculptures packaged, shipped and insured from Florence to Canada. One sculpture was broken during packaging or shipping and now the Punto System and the Florence Biennale are only willing to reimburse me One Fifth the value of the sculpture and both think that is fair.

I signed a contract and it did not state anywhere in it that although you have to pay the full amount that they only have to pay one fifth in return.

I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and if so did you have any better luck dealing with them and how. I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks, Paul.
Ps. I do not think I will attend the Florence Biennale 2009 because of this.
